In the week of 5 – 9 December staff of Hanze University of Applied Science relocated to the new building for the Energy Academy Europe; the most sustainable educational building in the Netherlands. The University of Groningen owns the building in which the Hanze University rents space.
The EAE is the leading institute of Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, University of Groningen and a large number of companies, research institutions and governments. This is the place where energy education, research and innovation come together. And not only in the technical field, but especially the economical, IT, legal, psychological and marketing and communications aspects of the energy issue will be discussed.
With the take in use of the Energy Academy a next further step in the cooperation in the field of energy education, research and innovation will be initiated. The building highly facilitates meeting each other, sharing knowledge, exploring and collaborating.
To achieve the extremely sustainable energy principles, the building of nearly 15,000 m2 has a special design with a large solar panel roof. The Hanze University of Applied Sciences hires 3,000 m2, including workplaces (flexible workstations and meeting rooms) as well as space for the Centre of Expertise Energy, different schools, which perform energy activities/research, and teaching spaces used jointly with the University Groningen.
