Living Lab Energy Transition

EnTranCe is the hotspot and breeding ground for accelerating the energy transition: moving towards an energy system that relies more on local generation based on non-fossil sources. With EnTranCe, a platform is created where companies, governmental organisations, NGOs, students, researchers and lecturers can initiate innovations and – through co-operation and sharing of knowledge – accelerate their development. The Living Lab Energy Transition at EnTranCe brings people together and provides the environment for participation, co-operative learning and knowledge sharing. By doing this we aim to ‘produce’ a new type of professional: Energy Changemakers, innovative and creative professionals who can accelerate the energy transition. Multi-level (vocational – bachelor – master), multidisciplinary (technical, business, communication, legal perspectives), knowledge sharing and networking are key features of this living lab. Not surprising since energy transition is a multifaceted process. Participants (students, professionals, lecturers, volunteers, persons looking for retraining) can learn in two contexts:

Whithin a theme agencies are a way of working on a wicked problem. A wicked problem is one that is difficult to solve because of its complexity and lack of clarity. Within a theme professionals, researchers, government representatives and students decide on an intriguing question and ways to tackle that question. The role of students is much more demanding since they are responsible for setting their own goals. This also means that they can explore their own interests to a greater extent than in projects.
Currently three themes are active within the Living Lab Energy Transition:
– Sustainable Mobility
– Local Communities
– Sustainable Buildings

Innovative energy projects

Innovative energy projects comprise assignments from professional practice (companies, government, research, …). These projects could be carried out as a placement or a graduation project and depending on space available, you could be working in the living lab space at EnTranCe. To support participants the linving lab provides coaching and meetups. Coaching focusses on personal -, team – and network development. Meetups are organized once a week featuring guest speakers on energy transition topics, workshops and knowledge sharing events.
