Last Thursday, 14 April, EnTranCe welcomed 20 girls who are currently following their education at the Werkman College for the Girls’Day 2016. Girls’Day is organized to introduce girls at the age of 10-15 years to science, technology and ICT in a fun way. The girls attended two workshops at EnTranCe: ‘Soldering LED lights’, organized by Kathelijne Bouw of the Centre of Expertise Energy, and ‘Experiments with the energy suitcase‘ organized by Sameen. In between these highly interesting activities, the girls were allowed to work up the sweat to produce a healthy snack on the smoothie bike.
On Thursday the 14th of April 2016 technical companies, research- and educational institutes opened their doors to young girls aged 10-15 years in order to awaken their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is one of the activities of VHTO, the Dutch National Expert Organisation on Girls/ Women and Science/Technology, to increase the participation of girls in science, technology and ICT in the Netherlands. During Girlsday, organized annually by VHTO, more than 10.500 girls discover the world of science, technology and IT.
