Digestible chewing gum, a shower warning system with irritating noises and a color-changing house that saves energy. All green ideas of children from the Province Groningen, selected for the third season of the TV show GreenTech on RTL4. In the program, young individuals between 9 and 15 years of batteling with each other over who has the most sustainable idea of the Netherlands!
In each GreenTech episode three teams, guided by a personal GreenCoach, are working on a prototype or model of their invention. At the end of the episode, the candidates present their idea to the jury, which determines who advances to the final and thus has the chance to win a Ultimaker 3D printer.
As many as three of the twelve candidates teams participating in this GreenTech season come are from the Province of Groningen.
In the first episode, airing on November 26, the province is represented by fourteen-year old Meike, Sanne, Jiska and Maud of the Werkman College in Groningen. The four friends want to do something against all the chewing gum on the street. Along with GreenCoach Rob van Haren of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, they create a digestivle gum, made from all natural ingredients.
In the second episode, eleven-year old Kim, Ingmar, Fimme and Meike work on the prototype of their Douche Waarschuwer: a shower that is playing annoying sounds after five minutes of showering to drive you from the cabin. This eposide is recorded in the Health Hub Roden and is broadcast on 3 December.
On 17 December, Brandon (12), Sebastian (13) and Heijco (13) from the Ubbo Emmius Maarsdreef in Stadskanaal are to be seen on TV. The three friends devised a house painted with coloured paint, which changes depending on the temperature of color, and thus can save energy. For the development they receive assistance from a second GreenCoach from Hanze University; Lecturer) researcher Arjan Kloekhorst.
